Thin-film Polarizers

Thin film polarizers separate the s- and p-polarized components of a particular wavelength or wavelength range by reflection from a coated plane surface. Due to their high laser damage threshold they replace Glan laser prisms or cube polarizing beamsplitters in high energy lasers, including Nd, Yb:KGW/KYW and Ti:Sapphire systems, extracavity attenuators and intracavity Q-switch hold-off polarizers. They are made of BK7 or UV fused silica for use at Brewster angle (56°), 45° or 70° angle of incidence, in standard, high transmission, high extinction ratio and broadband versions.
